Martin, Mary Witmer
July 5, 1911 - June 6, 1986

Mary W. Martin, 74, a bake shop employee who lived at 409 Weawit St., Blue Ball, died Wednesday afternoon at her home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late J. Jacob Martin, who died in October 1976.

She was employed in the bake shop of the Shady Maple IGA Market, East Earl Township, until January of this year. She had worked there for 10 years. She was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church and also attended the Weaverland Mennonite Church. At both churches, she taught Sunday school and was in the sewing circles. She was a member of the late Blue Ball Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, a volunteer at the Re-uz-it shop in New Holland, a member of the Blue Ball senior citizens Sunshine Club and treasurer of the Women's Christian Temperance Union in New Holland.

Born in East Earl Township, she was the daughter of the late Aaron M. and Lizzie Bowman Witmer. She is survived by two sons, Aaron W., New Holland, and James I., East Earl; and two daughters, Rebecca G., wife of Virgil L. Bloom, Akron, and Sarah J., wife of Rev., Robert A. Martin, East Earl R2; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
